Advent is a wonderful season of hope!

Trust

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us.They give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises.” Romans 15:4

The key to hope is trust. Throughout the Bible we are challenged to trust in God. Noah trusted in God when he built the ark. Abraham trusted in God as he waited for a son.  Often we have to trust in God – even when we don’t understand what is happening. “Trusting in God brings peace” (Isaiah 26:3) and I Peter 1:8 tells us “though you don’t see Him, you trust Him, and even now you are happy.”

Hope is contagious. Hopeful people bring hope to the world.

Romans 15:13 is a beautiful prayer for hope. Lord God, may You, the God of hope, fill us with all joy and peace as we trust in You, so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
