Angels Shout
“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me if you know so much who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy. “
Job 38:4, 7
In this passage, God puts Job in his place by contrasting Job’s personal issues with the mightiness of God. Verse 7 gives us a glimpse of the joy and worship that was present even at creation. The morning stars singing and the angels shouting for joy possibly depict the kind of worship we will experience in heaven.
Like the shape of the cross, worship is both a vertical and horizontal experience. Through worship, our hearts are sent upward to God, as He reaches down to us. When we are with others, our worship reaches out and unites us in Christ.
Heavenly Father, how we love you. Let our hearts reach up to you and out to others. We want to join with the angels as we sing and praise you. Teach us to worship in new ways. Amen.
