Advent is a wonderful season of hope!

Waiting

“The unfailing love of the Lord never ends. By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness, his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, ‘the Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for him and seek him.’ So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. ” Lamentations 3:22-26

Qavah is a Hebrew root word meaning hope and wait, telling us that we are to be hopefully expectant for God. While we are in this place of expectancy, we are to rest and refuse to find our own solutions. His ways and timing are always perfect. People waited expectantly for God to send the Messiah, but when He came, they failed to recognize Him because He wasn’t whom they imagined – Jesus was a humble servant, not a mighty ruler. Yet He was God’s perfect gift of love. Let us set aside our expectations and welcome His gifts. We are waiting expectantly for God and for the Messiah’s return. As we wait, our wonderfully good God strengthens us with His unfailing love and faithfulness.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your infinite and unfailing love. Strengthen us with the hope that is founded in your ways. You are wonderfully good and we wait quietly for you.  Amen.
