Celebrate the joy of Advent this December with Lisa Robertson’s daily devotional.

Strength in Joy

“Do not grieve … for the joy of the Lord is your strength”  Nehemiah 8: I 0

Throughout the Bible, many of God’s people face impossible circumstances. Often they would proclaim God’s power and sovereignty in the midst of problems, and in praising God they would find their joy.

Nehemiah 8:10 boldly proclaims “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” The strength is the result of knowing the unfailing love and faithfulness of Almighty God.

Joy grows in our lives as we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives. Joy is not based on circumstances, but on the eternal reality of the presence and power of God.

Lord God, we are so thankful that your joy makes us strong. We ask that today we would know your presence is greater than our circumstance. Amen.
