Messiah
“For unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
This well-known verse accurately describes some of the attributes of the Messiah, fulfilled in Christ. “Wonderful Counselor – Jesus is the source of wisdom, “Mighty God” – Jesus is our defender and protector. “Everlasting Father” – Jesus is the Alpha, the Omega, the same yesterday, today and forever. “Prince of Peace” – Jesus is our ruler giving us His peace that surpasses all understanding.
Declaring these names unlocks in us an understanding of His worthiness. Our worship springs from a growing awareness of the greatness of God in every aspect of our lives.
Almighty God, your faithful love and your eternal presence amaze us. Keep us sensitive to who you are in every detail of our lives. Help us recognize you daily. Amen.
